Full carbon frame and forks, hidden mudguard eyes to run a full, yes full, mudguard on anything tyre size 32mm or smaller. Dont want guards, no dramas, you can now run a 35mm tyre! MAGIC CARPET of a bike. A larger tyre just means a lower pressure! Less road vibrations and no osteopath needed come the end of a few hours!
Sporting a Shimano 105 12 speed groupset, this bike is made to be soft without sacrificing too much speed like your gravel bike would. This bike sits between a Silex (gravel) and the Scultura (Race) models within Merida’s range. Lets be honest, not many of us need the head down backside up position of the race bikes now, I know my gut gets in the way now and an ageing back wants to be a little more relaxed.
A carbon seat post adds to the comfort and helps shed the weight a little more also. The North Devon roads aren’t the smoothest of surfaces, so the idea of something that can help keep the rattles away and the muscles and bones purring is music to most ears!
A quick glance shows this as Merida’s entry level carbon bike and with a price point at £2250 we think its a very competitive starting point. Posher versions are available decked out in Di2 and carbon wheels if your feeling particulary flash but as a winter bike/do most thing’s bike this ticks more boxes than many others!
