Eroica Britannia has come and gone but the memories of a full strip and service live on.
A fresh set of bearings and a lot of fresh grease make things a lot easier. Lets face it, cycling is hard at the best of times and riding on a pre 1982 bike is never going to be as easy as a dreamy smooth, efficient and light carbon modern bike.
A full service is a lot easier to know where you are when you are stripping it down to a bare frame and going from scratch. That’s what happened here. Strip down to a bare frame and build from the ground up again, inspect for damage, new parts where required, fresh grease wherever its asking for it and fresh cables to have that new bike slick gear change. All components set to a torque setting pre determined by the manufactures and plenty of anti-seize so when we do another service in a year or so’s time we can still get everything off again.
On a the rare occasion, even the Campag Tool Kit makes an appearance.
A Colnago and plenty of pantograph components.
